I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the University of Athens, supervised by Dr. Maria Roussou. My research focuses on voice-based interactions in immersive interactive digital narratives (i-IDNs), exploring the cognitive and affective nuances of voice as a natural input modality. My aim is to provide design guidelines for voice-based interactions that enhance players' critical and emotional engagement with content. My academic background includes an MSc in Serious Games and Virtual Reality from the Glasgow School of Art and an MSc in Geoinformatics and Photogrammetry from the National Technical University of Athens, as well as a MArch in Architectural Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. I have collaborated with the Glasgow School of Art and Heriot-Watt University in research on serious game design methodologies, and with C-Brain lab at Stanford University for VR-based cognitive health research. I have applied experience in extended reality (XR) application development, among others in collaboration with the Cyprus Institute on a UNESCO World Heritage monument VR experience. I am currently working as a research associate and XR developer for Gruppo Maggioli in European research projects and am responsible for the AR Theatre use case of the HORIZON VOXReality project. In 2024, alongside fellow PhD students and collaborators -Christina Chrysanthopoulou and Renia Papathanasiou- we founded the non-profit company “Otter Space XR” for the use of XR, art and games for social benefit. I am particularly interested in opportunities to apply immersive interactive technologies combined with solid pedagogical principles in the domains of education, culture and health, with a focus on interventions for Climate Change and Social Change.
