The User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) is one of the most cited standardized instruments for measuring user experience. It consists of 26 items and 6 subscales. The UEQ-S is a shorter version of the instrument, consisting of 8 items and 2 subscales. In this paper, we take an initial step towards standardization of the Greek version of UEQ and UEQ-S. The UEQ items were translated by two HCI experts and an LLM into Greek and subsequently back translated to English from an English major and native Greek speaker. Differences resulting from the forward-back translation were discussed to create the adapted UEQ-GR instrument. Next, 538 participants interacted with two distinct websites and completed UEQ-GR and SUS-GR. Results showed that UEQ-GR is reliable and demonstrates convergent and discriminant validity but loads on three factors instead of the expected six. In addition, rather than the theoretical Pragmatic/Hedonic Quality model it was found that its two-factor structure reflects item directionality. In contrast, the UEQ-S-GR shows good reliability, aligns with the SUS, predicts the full UEQ, and retains the intended Pragmatic/Hedonic structure. Given the need for more research on the structure of UEQ-GR, we recommend practitioners to prefer the UEQ-S-GR for UX evaluation.
